We are local charcoal makers based at Cefn Wood near Y Groes /Crossgates.

Cefn Wood is a semi-natural ancient woodland and is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). We manage the wood using traditional coppicing and selective thinning which is both sustainable and beneficial to biodiversity.The regrowth of the coppiced trees provides ideal habitats for different woodland flora,animals, and insect life.

Did you know that 99% of charcoal is imported to the UK from as far a field as Indonesia and Sub-Saharan Africa? It often fuels the large scale destruction of habitats and environmental degradation.

Our charcoal is locally produced in a high efficiency, low emissions retort, it imparts a mild flavour and is free from chemicals and additives found in other commercial charcoal.
